Your End of Summer Look: Styling Summer Swimwear

By: Danielle Wass

August may be slipping away, but there’s still time to style swimwear this summer! Not to mention, it’s the perfect time to shop for swimwear on sale for the end of the season!

This summer the most popular styles of swimwear have been bikinis and one pieces. A simple triangle bikini is a great basic to add to your swimsuit collection. Summer is the time to get out of your comfort zone and wear bright colors and patterns that you may not normally wear throughout the year. Bright colors also look great with a tan and elevate a simple bikini!

I love pairing my triangle bikinis with a pair of distressed denim shorts and an oversized button-down top. The button-down serves as a cover-up for the beach and also makes the outfit look classier. This year blue and white stripe button-downs have been a huge trend.

Another huge trend this summer has been one piece bathing suits with cutout details. One piece suits can feel more modest than a bikini so a cutout detail can serve as the perfect middle ground. Whatever bathing suit you choose to wear, make sure you’re comfortable so you can have the most fun in the sun!

Cover-up dresses are another way to elevate your summer swimwear. Dresses are easy to throw on and avoid having to choose both a top and pair of bottoms. They can make it look like you put a lot more effort into your beach outfit than you actually had to!

Finally, every great outfit needs even better accessories. Sunglasses are a staple accessory during summer and also functional. Aviator-style sunglasses have been super trendy this summer and tend to be a classic style each year. A fun beach tote is another functional accessory that can add some spice to your summer wardrobe.
