In honor of this week being the last full week of spring, take some time to “spring-clean” your life and get into your summer groove! It is always beneficial to start fresh and enter a new season with a cleansed mental space and physical space. Whether you choose to clean your living space or release thoughts that do not serve you, spring cleaning is the perfect way to help you move closer to those new experiences.
Step 1: Go through your closet!
It is very common to compile clothing throughout the years that either we have grown out of or that we simply do not have an attachment to any longer. Pick up an article of clothing and ask yourself, “Does this serve me?” or “Do I actually wear this?” If your answer is no, donate it! When we clean things out of our life that do not serve us, this helps us enter into present time: what is real and truthful in the current period of our lives.
Step 2: Journal down thoughts or experiences that bother you and release them from your mind
Oftentimes, we can become overwhelmed by past experiences. Sometimes we hold on to past experiences that are negative because they confuse us. It is beneficial to establish your own closure in order to move forward. Write down some experiences that you have been holding on to and let them go. If we dwell on the past, this disrupts our rhythm in the present and distracts us from new opportunities that are to come. Take as long as you need to do this exercise. Write, close the book, take a deep breath, and move forward.
Step 3: Take time to clean your living space
A clean living space can change your entire perspective and amount of energy. What we see in our living spaces can oftentimes resemble our cluttered minds. Take time to organize your clothes, books/folders, kitchen, garage, etc… When we de-clutter and organize, our minds will become more focused and more intuitive.
Step 4: Make a list of goals for the summer
Setting goals for yourself can help to guide your focus, increase your self-esteem, and keep you motivated. Similarly, having goals reminds you of what is important to you and what is in tune with your inner vibration. If you take a moment to write down a few goals for the next few weeks, you will find that your overall motivation and energy level will increase. Remember, it is ok to not meet your desired goals. When we do not meet our goals it is a learning experience that helps to remind us of what our true path is in life.
Step 5: Learn something new!
Even if it is 10 minutes out of your day, designate some time to learn something new. Whether it be reading an article, watching the news, watching a video, a new workout, etc…allow your mind to truly absorb the new information. The more we learn, the more we learn about ourselves. Remember, we are always growing. Who knows? Maybe you will come across a new interest that you can further implement into your summer activities.
Enjoy these last few moments of spring. Happy spring cleaning!
